Statistical Notice 2023/01 | Bank of England
Consultation of statistical data disclosure
On 1 March 2023 the Bank’s Data and Statistics Division (DSD) will commence consultation with all UK resident banks and buildings societies that provide data using the Bank’s suite of statistical collections. The intention to undertake this consultation was proposed in a Green Notice published on 1 December 2022 following discussions with a panel of reporting institutions in November 2022.
The purpose of the consultation is to seek prior approval from reporting institutions should the data they provide contribute to a published aggregate where there are less than three contributors. The aim of the new approach is to reduce the burden on both reporting institutions and DSD staff when the Bank seeks permission to publish data.
Reporting firms will have the option to:
- Give prior consent for all statistical forms
- Give prior consent on a form-by-form basis
- Give prior consent with the exception of certain data points
- Opt out and give consent on a case-by-case basis
Please participate in the consultation by completing the Key Survey, the link to the Key Survey will activate on 1 March.
The consultation will close on 31 March 2023 and the Key Survey link will expire following this deadline. Any institutions that have not responded in that time will default to option 4.
Adoption of this new approach is on a voluntary basis with the ability to change consent option at any point, post the 31 March deadline, by emailing BEEDSqueries@bankofengland.co.uk.
